hey there,
we are Philipp & Anika. we met in September of 2018 when Anika was living in Cologne and working for German Public TV and Philipp as an independent designer in Düsseldorf. about one year later we got the chance to buy a really cool old mobile home from the early 90’s.
we called it “Dethleff” and started traveling. the plan was to be back after half a year or so, but we got stuck in Morocco due to covid and spend a total of nine months on the African continent. a pretty wild and life changing experience. we also found our little three-legged bad ass street dog Mogli over there and suddenly going back to normal life in Germany was not an option anymore.
we kept traveling for some more years keeping our eyes open for a place or a project that would make sense. in February 2022 we were actually on our way to Portugal to start looking for places more seriously. we never made it there. we fell in love with the region of Cádiz, especially with the area around Vejer de la Frontera and decided that this is the part of the world where we finally want to start searching for a piece of land. one day after that decision we went on a walk with Mogli and stumbled upon an abandoned old finca full of trash with magnificent ocean views. we had a really strange sense of coming home.
we asked around for weeks to find out if the property was on sale. no one could really help us with that question and the whereabouts of the owners. eventually we found an old passport in the trash. no kidding! through this we were finally able to get in touch with the owner. it took us one more year, a big risk and lots of nerves until we were finally able to sign the contract.

Finca de las Aves has now not only become our permanent home, but also our heart project where we put in all our love, creativity and sweat. hope to see you here soon.

hola,
